Description:   This bibliography lists works on U.S. local histories in the collections of the Library of Congress.  Each volume covers a different part of the country, is organized by state or region and includes a table of contents.

 

Organization of Bibliographies:

 

·         Each state or regions has it’s own classification schedule for topics covered.

·         Books are listed alphabetically by author under each heading except biographies, which are listed alphabetically by subject.

·         Localities are listed alphabetically by place and then by author under regions, counties, etc and cities, towns, etc.

·         Brief description of contents and important notes are included.

·         The Library of Congress call number is listed on right hand side so sequence can be easily followed.

·         Authors’ dates, joint authors, detailed descriptions of contents, number of copies printed, etc. are excluded.
