This month’s Family Tree Maker software class will discuss using the Sources and Places worksplace buttons.
Instructor Bob Larson (pictured above) will demonstrate how to properly cite those important Sources for each document that users have collected and imported into the family file using this popular genealogy software. An easy to use Source wizard tool allows users to enter the required document or photo/image information for proper verification of each source.
Bob will also highlight the use of the Places workspace with expanded map feature that shows the locations of each ancestor with over 3 million maps of the world. There are road maps, satellite maps, and aerial maps that will be shown. This is a nice feature to show where your ancestors lived or even your past residences. These maps can be used in a report or book.
In addition, Bob will show how to use the Edit, View, and Tools menu items, and add GPS coordinates for any location in the world.
Bob will show these popular FTM features on a big screen and gives many research tips at the class and in the handout. Users are welcome to bring their laptops or netbooks to follow the presentation. Handouts will be available at each class or posted on our FTM webpage within two weeks after each class.
Visitors are cordially welcome to attend and please bring a relative or friend interested in learning about genealogy software. FREE to the public!
