German Study Group – A Brick Wall Case Study Presentation

Host Del Ritchhart is hosting a special presentation from his upcoming IGGP Conference in June. If interested, please register below.

Description:
Del’s presentation traces the research he conducted to discover information about his wife’s German Great-grandmother’s place of origin in Germany and the identity of her parents. Maria Elizabeth Feiertag had been one of his “brick walls” for almost 20 years. All Del knew about her German connections was that she was from Bavaria, roughly when she came to America and her birth date. Thanks to a lot of information gathered by collaborating with both German and American individuals Del had met through his involvement in the International German Genealogy Partnership (IGGP), He was able to identify the specific village from which Maria emigrated, her parent’s names, and home towns, and details about her emigration application and process. The lessons learned from this research can be applied by others in researching their German ancestors and are not unique to his research of Maria.
