Program Description

We’ll take a quick look at the Crossing – why it was important and how it impacted the cause of Independence. We will look at how it impacted the everyday soldiers, like my 5th great grandfather, Connelly McFadden. I will offer an overview on how to research our Revolutionary War ancestors so we can tell their story. Making the connection of our history and genealogy to why we are celebrating our country’s 250th Anniversary.

Speaker Profile

Speaker Sherrie Farnell

Sherrie Farnell is an arm chair historian and an amateur genealogist. She has had a passionate interest in history, especially American History, since she was a little girl watching World War II documentaries with her father. History was her favorite subject in grade school and high school and after her children were grown she enrolled at Fullerton College to take history classes for fun. Years later, after inheriting genealogy, photos and documents she started researching her family’s history. In 2017 she signed up with Ancestry and has been hooked every since. In 2019 she joined Larimer County Genealogical Society and has appreciated all the assistance and knowledge shared by other members. She loves helping others with their research and finds the Thursday Library Help Sessions very rewarding.
