LCGS Fiftieth Anniversary Cookbook

February 16, 2024

2024 marks the 50th anniversary of the Larimer County Genealogical Society. As part of the commemoration of this milestone, LCGS is planning to publish a cookbook of family recipes submitted by members of the Society.

Family recipes are one way of remembering and honoring our ancestors. Whether the recipes are ethnic foods brought from the old country by emigrants or recipes that recall America’s history, our family recipes remain alive when we share them with others.

If you’re a member of LCGS, you’re invited to submit your heirloom recipes to be included in the LCGS Cookbook. You’re also invited to include a paragraph describing where the recipe came from and why your family still treasures it. In addition, you might want to include a brief description of the grandma or grandpa who made the recipe and why the recipe is famous (or infamous!) in your family.

Submissions are due by April 1. Leading up to that date, you will be receiving biweekly email reminders. These reminders will include a link to a form you can fill out and submit. You may submit multiple recipes if you wish.

Alternatively, you may send the recipes with your name and phone or email and how many served, ingredients, and a story about the recipe directly to Sherrie Farnell at email: [email protected]. If you have further questions, you may also email them to Sherrie.

This is an easy way to ensure that your family recipes are not forgotten. The cookbooks will be available in May as part of the LCGS 50th Anniversary Celebration at the monthly meeting. Make sure the books include your treasured family recipes!
